Introduction

This course should appeal to scientists just starting their careers in this area or those from other scientific disciplines who want to learn more in vitro technologies and how to apply them to the drug discovery and development process. Topics to be covered include the enzymology of drug metabolism, enzyme kinetics, inhibition and induction of ADME targets, drug transport processes and the use of hepatocytes and subcellular fractions. In each case lectures will be supplemented with intensive tutorials to reinforce the applications and pitfalls of in vitro methods.

Considerable emphasis is given to the practicalities of evaluating in vitro data and methodologies and how these may be integrated into drug discovery and development programmes. This course will require the use of a laptop and a full set of course presentations will be provided prior to the course. Copies of the model answers to the tutorials will be made available to each delegate as a hand out during the course.

Registration cost is £980 - including accommodation on the nights of 9,10 & 11 March 2021.
